This is the trailer of the film, The Possessed.

The Possessed was originally going to be about a shadow (which is evil) that entered the house and terrorized two teenage girls who were the only ones home. But due to the amount of work and time it would take to get the lighting right to create the shadow and not make it look like it is just the shadow of a human (the shadow was just a shadow, it was not a shadow of anyone), it would make the production time very long and the post production time very long. as we had a deadline to meet we decided not to go ahead with the shadow as the antagonist.

Having this change in antagonist meant that the script was changed multiple times. We ended up deciding on using a doll (my doll) to be the antagonist. We used the Annabelle films as inspiration for the events that happen in the film. We used the Annabelle films as inspiration as they had the age rating of 15 which was what we were aiming for, because of our brief, and because she is a doll as well so we could use the films to pick out the most terrifying shot angles, movements etc. so that we could achieve our brief which we were set.

The whole group (me and the other two collaborating on this film) directed and edited one act each, I did act 1. Because we separated out the different acts we created all our own documents for the acts (I created the shot list and storyboard for act 1).

We set a schedule for ourselves when we got into the production stage for the film so we could have everything finished by the deadline, as we had to make sure we had spare filming days and editing days incase it took longer than it was supposed to. We did also have a schedule for pre-production (the beginning) all the way to distribution (end) of the film, this was to helpful to set out deadlines for smaller tasks in the different stages so that it's finished by the deadline.

For all the filming equipment, we borrowed it from college. We borrowed a tripod, light and a sound recorder. For the camera we used Niamh's (one of the collaborators on the film) camera and camera chargers. For props in the film most of them were mine (doll, bead, torch and the music box) though the phone that kept being called we just used Tilly's (actor) phone, then we had one of us behind the scenes call it to bring the 'NO CALLER ID' onto the screen.

To make sure we achieved the 16-25 age range target audience for our film we sent out a survey in the pre-production stage to find out what the favourite elements of horror films for our target audience, as through this research we could find out from that current target audience, as using second hand research could be from years ago for elements that aren't popular anymore. We asked about location, monster, subgenre and number of protagonists.

The Possessed

The Possessed was a collaboration project I made with two other filmmakers. The Possessed was also my very first film.

The brief for this film was commissioned by BFI, to create a short horror film between 1 to 3 minutes, which is either physically monstrous or an idea or an action that has monstrous consequences for your character's actions, the target audience for the short film will be between the ages of 16 to 25.

Synopsis:

A teenage girl (played by Tilly Turner) is left home alone for the evening. Not knowing what is about to come her way until evil itself enters her home, and there is no escaping. If she is captured then she becomes like them... POSSESSED .

You're never really alone...

These are one set of my storyboards from during the pre-production of this film.

These storyboards don't talk about the type of shots, movements , or audio - these storyboards just show how the storyline will play out.

However, if you have seen the film, you will notice these storyboards aren't actually what happens in the film, the reason for this is that this is actually our original storyline, the reason it changed was due to an actor pulling out last minute (they pulled out due to injury that happened outside of filming).
